Region 5 Youth Grant Program
The Region 5 Youth Board is proud to offer a grant program for Region 5 Regionals, Canadian Nationals, Youth Nationals, 4H and WAHSET. These grants are being funded by the proceeds from the 2026 Dessert Dash.
This grant program is open to Region 5 Youth Members to fund horse show entries at the Region 5 Championship Show, Region 5 Off Site Sport Horse Championship Show, Canadian Nationals and Youth Nationals. For 4-H and WAHSET it helps to cover expenses associated with State Fair and meets.

NEW for 2026:
Three new grants offered

One $1000 grant for a first-time youth exhibitor to Canadian Nationals

One $250 grant for a youth exhibitor that show their horse in WAHSET.

One $250 grant for a youth that qualifies/participated on the 4H State Fair team.
FIRST TIME EXHIBITOR REGION 5 CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW OR REGION 5 OFF SITE SPORT HORSE CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW
The goal in 2026 is to give two $500 grants to the Region 5 Championship show and two $500 grant to the Region 5 Off Site Sport Horse Championship Show. The grants are given specifically to fund horse show entries.
For the Region 5 Championship or Region 5 Off Site Sport Horse Championship Show by applying for this grant you are declaring that you have never shown at a Regional Championship Show prior to the 2026 season.
FIRST TIME EXHIBITOR YOUTH NATIONALS AND CANADIAN NATIONALS
The goal in 2026 is to give out two $1000 grants to Youth Nationals and one $1000 grant for Canadian Nationals. The grants are given specifically to cover the cost of Entry Fees for the horse show.
For this grant, by applying for this grant you are declaring that you have never shown at Youth Nationals and or Canadian Nationals prior to the 2026 season.
SELECT, ROOKIE AND LIMIT RIDER
In 2026 we will give out three $500 grants to a Select, Rookie or limit Rider for Region 5 Championship Show and/or Region 5 Off-Site Sport Horse Championship Show
Applicants for the Region 5 Championship Show must provide proof of Select/Rookie status from their 2026 Leveling Achievement Record which can be found on their AHA Member Page.
Applicants for the Limit Rider for Region 5 Off-Site Sport Horse Championship Show must have not won six first place ribbons respectively at Arabian Competitions in sport horse division. One horse classes do not count in recognizing limit status. Applicants must submit a copy of their AHA rider report for verification.
GENERAL RULES:
One grant per person. You must be a member of a local Region 5 club.
A copy of the entry blank showing show totals must be submitted by the selected winner.
A Region 5 board member may contact the show secretary to verify entry.
A reimbursement check will be mailed to the parents of the selected winner, prior to the close of entries deadline.
No cross applications between Regionals, Nationals, 4H or WASET
If you have received a Nationals Grant then you are not eligible for any other grants.
If you have received a Regionals Grant then you are eligible to apply for a Nationals grant.
If grant winner has to scratch the show for any reason the check will need to be returned to the Region along with a letter citing the reason for the scratch.

7.) Provide a letter of recommendation from your trainer and it must include a statement from your trainer that they intend to attend the show that you are applying for. If you do not have a trainer your parent must make a statement that you intend to attend the show for which you are applying for.
4-H RULES
Application Deadline September 30, 2026
One grant per person. You must be a member of a local Region 5 club.
This will be a reimbursement only grant. Grant covers expenses related to attending the State Fair.
Applicants must provide documentation that you were on the state team that that you competed in the State Fair with your Arabian/Half Arabian.
No cross applications with Regionals, Nationals or WAHSET.
WAHSET Rules
Application deadline June 1, 2026
This will be a reimbursement only grant.
The applicant does not need to be a member of a Region 5 club, however their Arabian/Half Arabian does need to be registered with AHA.
This grant would cover the annual athlete registration and a portion of the district meet fees and or uniforms related to participation. Selected applicant to provide proof of participation with their Arabian/Half Arabian by providing a letter from their WAHSET coach that they are on the team and have participated in the district meets and or state meet.
No cross applications with Regionals, Nationals or 4-H.
