About Region 5

The Arabian Horse Association's Region 5 encompasses Alaska, Washington, Northern Idaho, and Western Montana.

Region 5 has earned the respect of Arabian horse competitors across the country. Whether for show, endurance or dressage, horses from the Pacific Northwest are among the best in the nation.

The quality and caliber of our Region 5 horses are evident by the results of highly competitive shows such as the U.S. Nationals, Canadian Nationals, and Scottsdale.

I. Welcome and Call to Order
    A. Meeting called to order at 3:37 pm

     C. Flamingo Fundraiser (Regionals)
         1. $10 to flock / $20 to remove
         2. Proposed alternative was to use poop emojis or cow pies

         1. Items would need to be donated
         2. Profits would be split between Youth and AHDF
     F. Jamba Juice
        1. Small $2 drinks
        2. Permission would be needed from Monroe show grounds
     G. Championship Garland Sponsorship
         1. $50 to sponsor champion and reserve garlands
         2. Prizes will be given to the youth who sells the most
         3. Form is available on the Region 5 website
         4. Sponsorships cannot be written off on taxes

VII. Cascade Youth Show
     A. Need youth volunteers
     B. Volunteer hours will count towards regional high point
     C. Opportunity to participate in the Mentor Program
     D. Proposed Mother’s Leadline Class

VIII. Youth Judging Team - Allison
     A. Would like more youth participants from the region
     B. Tryouts will be held at the Cascade Youth Show
     C. 4 people are chosen with 1 alternate
     D. Clinics and demonstrations are going to be held at various barns to showcase different disciplines and provide opportunities to practice

IX. AHYA Report - Elizabeth
     A. Theme for Youth this year is “Festival of Colors”
        1. Proposed tie-dyeing shirts for the Parade of Regions
     B. Youth Convention at Nationals
        1. Officer elections
        2. Discussed activities for participants
        3. Trailer Raffle Tickets - $50 each

X. Meeting Opened to Additional Questions and Suggestions
     A. Proposed Western Pleasure Primetime class for older adults
     B. Suggested art contest at the Cascade Youth Show
        1. $1 to submit artwork
        2. Potential prize for winner
